Red Star, White Star

The War in Europe is nearly over. Berlin has fallen and the British and U.S. Forces have begun breaking down their units on the continent. The boys are headed home. Although war still wages against Japan, it seems the Allies will achieve total victory soon. Alas, Stalin is not pleased with having the outsiders on HIS continent. After all, Russia won the war over the Germans with her blood! What did the capitalists give?

Working in secret, Stalin forges an alliance with the Japanese, helping her to overcome her economic difficulties and to help her finish her conquest of Asia. When the time is right the Alliance is announced with artillery shells, bombs and fierce fighting in Asia and in Europe.

Taken initially by surprise, the British and the Americans lose ground to their new adversaries. However, the Doughboys and the Yanks don't give in easily. If the Communists and the Imperialists want war, then war they shall have!

Turn Order

Russia goes first followed by, the United Kingdom, Japan and the United States.

Special Rules and Notes

In the first round, the countries start with no cash and therefore no purchases may be made.

East Canada separates West Canada from the East Canada sea zone (Hudson Bay). Therefore the U.S. cannot move land troops to West Canada and then deliver them to Europe via transport. This forces the U.S. to deal with a two front war.

No weapons technologies have been awarded to any country. Although players may attempt to gain them using the standard rules.

The ICs in Germany, Southern Europe, and Burma are considered to placed/captured ICs and therefore unit purchases are limited to the IPC value of the territory.

Victory is obtained by capturing both of your opponents capitals. Germany is not to be considered as a capital. Economic Victory can be achieved if at the end of one complete turn, one side holds on to 100 ipcs in territory. For example, at the end of the UK turn, the UK and US hold 100 ipcs in territory. The Japanese and the Russians are unable to gain back enough territory to drop this number below 100 ipcs. The UK and US would win.

Strategy?

Russia is now free to work in Europe without the threat of the Japanese coming from the west. Although she is better positioned to reinforce her front, she has no navy and therefore it may difficult for the Russians to pressure the Yanks or the Brits outside of Europe. But then again, the big money is in Europe.

The British Empire is now threatened heavily by the Japanese. Although, she must keep a hold on Europe the future of Africa is perilous.

The Imperialists must use her navy to expand her empire. Africa as to far west and the United States is to the East. However, Japan may be forced to send aid to Europe if Russia finds the going tough.

The Americans have just a foothold inf Europe, that may not last past first round. She must keep her eyes West Coast, while finding ways to improve her strategic position.
