NEW UNITS

The one rule variation that I would like to see would be a new unit. What if there was a another naval unit? A smaller version of the battleship, a destroyer or something along those lines. That would make naval combat much more interesting and less expensive. Very few times do I see a player buy a naval unit other than a sub or a tranport.
Hmmm... a destroyer... not a bad idea. You could place a nationality marker under one of your transports for this (or paint the Russian transports). Not sure how much it should cost. Maybe $6-$8? Maybe it could attack and defend at 2, but move 3 sea zones per turn??? Anyone else have any ideas on this?
Panzers
Pull out the black paint and convert some of those grey German tanks into Panzers. At $6 per unit, they would attack at 4 and defend at 3. They would only be available to the Germans. Or you could make them a weapons development roll, replacing the normals tanks should your R&D prove successful.
Artillery
More paint required. Just paint a few of those white AA guns and voila you have artillery units. They would cost $4, attack at 3, defend at 1 and move 1 space per turn. Here's there special twist. Artillery units can attack by being adjacent to the territory under seige and in this case, they would not be taken as a casualty.
Charismatic Leader
Certain leaders inspire their men to achieve beyond their abilities. The Charismatic Leader (CL) unit in A&A empowers his units in a similar manner. The CL, a land unit, can move 1 space per turn and costs $12. He is purchased and placed just like any other unit. He can be moved by transport, just like an infantry unit. However, when engaged in battle, the CL does not get a die roll and cannot be taken as casualty. Instead, all of the units of his nationality that are attacking or defending for one an entire battle will be allowed to subtract a 1 from all of their die rolls. Once the battle is complete the Charismatic Leader is removed from the board. Please note, that CL's can be used in sea battles by riding in a transport. Each nation is limited to having one CL in play at a time, but multiple Charismatic Leaders can purchased throughout the course of the game. Because of egos, two Charismatic Leaders from the same alliance cannot occupy the same country at the same time. Finally, a CL's influence is limited only to units of his nationality.
