During the days of September 4 through September 18, 1998 we posed the following trivia question to our readers: "Which country suffered the most military casualties during War World II?" It is great to know that vast majority of readers knew that the Russians suffered the most battle deaths during World War II. In fact, the Russians lost more than twice as many soldiers (7.5 million) as the Germans (3.5 million). Not even listed in the polls was China. They actually endured 2.2 million fatalities during their conflict with Japan, placing them third on the historical list.
