Chi Control
Dark Path of the Shadow Strategy Article - iguesi@aol.com

Chi is the life force of Rokugan. Our mastery of Chi has protected our mystical lands for centuries. In order to effectively control our adversaries we must not only master our own chi, but their's as well.

Providing "Universal" Chi Boosts

We have uncovered a new holding the will enable us to increase the magnitude of our chi. It is known as the Fortress of the Dragonfly (Honor Bound, 3 Gold) All of your human and naga personalities have +1 chi while the Fortress of the Dragonfly is in play. Our stronghold provides the necessary koku for purchasing this valuable holding. And since it is not unique, we may improve our collective chi by 3.

An ancient weapon will also assist in raising both the force and chi of some of our brothers. The Broken Sword of the Scorpion, will provide this benefit to all scorpion united under our banners.

Let's us not ignore, Lady Kitsune. She is revered highly in Rokugan and would enable us attract additional personalities to our cause. And when in battle all human Personalities are +1C when in the same army as Lady Kitsune.

Destroying their Chi

Evil Portents, Evil Portents, Evil Portents! It can be the one card solution to sending an attacking army home. Furthermore, depending on the personalities you have hired to assist our efforts, you may consider dropping multiple copies of this beloved card to destroy your enemies entire force.

If you employ a few shugenja (such Asako Hosigeru) in your decks, consider adding Stale Wind to your fate deck. This free spell temporarily gives the shadowlands taint to all personalities with less then 2 personal honor. (This should be most of your people!) Afterwards, Evil Portents can pump our forces up, while destroying our enemies!

Sometimes a quick chi reduction to one personality can give us the victory. Wounded in Battle and Bloodstrike (Honor Bound kiho) should not be overlooked as options for reducing our opponents life force during battle.
